Minister Bayraktar Visits Zonguldak for Sectoral Meetings

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar held several official meetings in Zonguldak, including visits to the Provincial Governor’s Office and the local headquarters of the AK Party. Following these visits, Minister Bayraktar proceeded to the Kozlu Hard Coal Enterprise operated by the Turkish Hard Coal Authority (TTK). There, he broke fast with miners at a depth of 630 meters underground. Emphasizing Energy Independence and Worker Safety

National Energy Policy and Regional Developments

During his remarks, Minister Bayraktar highlighted the increased prominence of the energy sector due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. He stressed the critical role played by Turkish miners, stating, “A country that possesses its own energy resources and utilizes them is much stronger and more resilient. This is why we have continuously advocated for a National Energy and Mining Policy.” Bayraktar reiterated efforts to reduce dependence on foreign energy through the production of local coal in Zonguldak, natural gas from the Black Sea, and oil from Gabar.

Prioritizing Occupational Health and Safety

Minister Bayraktar underscored that occupational health and safety remains the top priority in mining operations. “Your health and safety are paramount for us. While increasing production is important for our country’s growth, it is essential that this is achieved under safe conditions. We are committed to ensuring that environmental considerations are integrated into our operations, aiming for sustainable contribution of Turkey’s mineral resources to the economy,” he added.

Enhanced Safety Measures in Mining

The Minister also addressed ongoing improvements in workplace safety: “It is vital that we maintain the highest safety standards. We are continuously evaluating and updating our work practices to ensure maximum safety for everyone involved. Measures are being implemented rapidly to normalize working hours and conditions. You can be confident that we are taking all necessary precautions together.”
