Minister Alparslan Bayraktar visited the city of Aydın, where he held a series of official meetings, including stops at the Aydın Governorship and the AK Party Provincial Presidency. His visit focused on underlining the importance of national unity and advancements in the energy sector.
Unity and Solidarity Highlighted in Challenging Times
During his remarks, Minister Bayraktar pointed to the ongoing global challenges, stating, “It is crucial to strengthen our country. Our unity and integrity are more important than ever.” He stressed that collective effort and solidarity are key to overcoming current difficulties and ensuring the nation’s resilience.
Progress in Energy Sector and the ‘Century of Türkiye’ Vision
Referring to President Erdoğan’s ‘Century of Türkiye’ vision, Bayraktar noted significant achievements in the energy field. He highlighted milestones such as the production of oil in Gabar, natural gas extraction in the Sakarya Gas Field in the Black Sea, and the use of domestic vessels for exploration. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of Aydın’s geothermal resources, as well as solar, wind, coal, and the development of nuclear energy. “These steps are vital for today and the future,” he commented.
Ensuring Energy Security and Reducing External Dependence
Minister Bayraktar stressed the necessity of energy supply security, noting the rising demand for energy. He underlined the priority of utilizing domestic and renewable sources in an environmentally responsible manner. “Our aim is to achieve energy independence for Türkiye and reduce reliance on foreign sources. This will make us stronger internationally and keep our foreign currency within the country,” he explained.
Ongoing State Support for Energy Costs
The Minister reminded the public that the government currently covers 50% of electricity and 45% of natural gas bills. He assured that these supports will continue and mentioned ongoing work to further assist low-income households: “We are developing models to provide greater support specifically for citizens most in need.”
